The traditional choir of St George’s.
The Parish Choir is the flagship choral foundation of the parish, leading the music at the 11.00am Sunday Choral Eucharist and at Choral Evensong throughout term.
The choral tradition at St George’s reaches back to the appointment of Edward Bunting — the great collector of Irish traditional music — as the church’s first organist in 1817. We have sung the daily and weekly office of music almost without interruption ever since.
Choristers join the choir from the age of seven, and receive musical training of the highest standard. The choir is one of the few remaining traditional choral foundations in Ireland to include both boys and — in recent years — girls of the parish among its treble line, alongside experienced gentlemen choristers (alto, tenor and bass).

The choir is directed by David Falconer, Director of Music, with vocal coaching from Maeve Falconer. Repertoire ranges across the great Anglican tradition — Tallis, Byrd, Stanford, Howells, Walton — and into the music of our own time.
Rehearsals take place during term time. Boys and girls are auditioned informally and warmly; previous singing experience is welcome but not required. We are always glad to hear new voices.
